Administrative Specialist II


Executive Branch | Chapter 18A | Full Time, Eligible for Overtime Pay | 37.5 HR/WK

Description: The Kentucky Public Service Commission presents an opportunity for you to make a difference within the Commission's Division of Inspections, a fast paced, exciting, and professional environment. We're hiring an Administrative Specialist II to assist our Division Director & utility inspectors with their important mission of ensuring that Kentucky's natural gas, electric, water, sewer and telecom utilities for safety and reliable service. The perfect candidate will support our inspections team by ensuring that the provided administrative functions are accomplished daily. We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented team player with a pleasant and helpful attitude who has excellent communication and telephone skills, the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. We are looking for a candidate who will take pride in serving the division.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the preparation and proofing of correspondence, memos and reports
  • Serving as the division point of contact for questions, relaying important information to staff
  • Scheduling division meetings and coordinating meetings schedules with the executive administrative staff
  • Managing inventory of office supplies and materials
  • Coordinating staff travel and training

Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience, or requisite skills. The experience, training, or skills requirement cannot be met with only requisite skills.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.



The Public Utilities Financial Analyst IV

Salary: $38,770.08 - $51,361.20

Description:Join the unique world of utility rate analysis.

This niche field is responsible for analyzing the rate structure and revenue needs of electric, gas, water and sewer related utilities. The primary focus for this analyst will be the tax impacts upon investor-owned utilities and the supporting analysis of depreciation, Interested applications must have tax accounting experience, preferably as a licensed CPA, and possess excellent time management skills. This position will involve limited travel and regular business hours except for the occasional late evening associated with more complex matters. EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a business related field (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty-quarter hours in accounting).

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of professional experience in public utility accounting, or requisite skills. The experience, training, or skills requirement cannot be met with only requisite skills.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Certification as a Certified Public Accountant will substitute for the required education and one year of the required experience.



Public Utilities Financial Analyst I

Description: Are you a detailed-oriented person who would enjoy learning about the unique market structure of regulated utilities? If so, you should join our professional staff at the Kentucky Public Service Commission. The Commission has an immediate opening for a Public Utilities Tariff Analyst within the Division of Financial Analysis. In this position, you will assist with the examination of public utility tariff and contract filings to determine compliance with state statutes and administrative regulations for water, sewer, gas and electric utilities. Through these tariff examinations, you will learn about the complexities of utility rate design and the impact of rate design upon utility revenue requirements. This position will involve limited travel and regular business hours except for the occasional late evening associated with more complex matters.
